Installing Dell Openmanage on Proxmox 5.2


  • Ensure that your /etc/apt/sources.list is as follows:

       deb stretch main contrib
       # security updates
       # deb stretch/updates main contrib
       deb stretch pve-no-subscription

  • echo ‘deb /’ | tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
  • apt-get install dirmngr –install-recommends
  • gpg –keyserver –recv-key 1285491434D8786F
  • gpg -a –export 1285491434D8786F | apt-key add –
  • wget
  • dpkg -i libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-7_amd64.deb
  • apt-get update
  • apt-get install srvadmin-all
  • service dataeng start
  • service dsm_om_connsvc start
  • update-rc.d dsm_om_connsvc defaults
  • Access by using the following URL: https://<server FQDN>:1311


Configure Raspberry Pi 3 in Kiosk Mode


Operating System: Raspbian GNU/Linux 8

Raspberry Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

Update and Upgrade

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y


Configure Network 

  • Edit the config file:
    vim /etc/dhcpcd.conf
  • Add the following lines:

       interface eth0
       static ip_address=10.x.x.x
       static routers= <– For Cape Town
       static routers= <– For Sutherland
       static subnet_mask=
       static domain_name_servers= <– For Cape Town
       static domain_name_servers= <– For Sutherland

  • Restart the network service:
    /etc/init.d/networking restart


Change the hostname

  • Replace raspberrypi with newhostnamepi in the following files:
    sudo apt-get install vim
    sudo vim /etc/hosts
    sudo vim /etc/hostname
  • Commit this change:
    sudo /etc/init.d/
  • Reboot for the change to take effect:
    sudo reboot


Install Chromium

sudo apt install chromium-browser


Install SSH

sudo apt-get install ssh

If SSH doesn’t work, delete all the ssh key files, regenerate them and reboot:
sudo rm /etc/ssh/ssh_host*
sudo dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server
sudo reboot


Setting display to fullscreen

sudo vim /boot/config.txt

Remove hash from the following line and ensure it is set to 1.
disable_overscan = 1


Change the password

sudo raspi-config
Select Option 2


Configure KIOSK mode

  • Disable the screensaver, power management and error and warning messages if Pi was not powered down gracefully by changing the following file:
    vim /home/pi/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
  • Add the following lines:
    @pcmanfm –desktop –profile LXDE
    #@xscreensaver -no-splash
    @xset s off
    @xset -dpms
    @xset s noblank
    @sed -i ‘s/”exited_cleanly”: false/”exited_cleanly”: true/’ ~/.config/chromium/Default/Preferences
    @chromium-browser –kiosk –noerrdialogs –incognito  <– Update this to the website you wish to point to


Rotate display 90 degrees clockwise

  • sudo vim /boot/config.txt
  • Then add the following line:
    display_rotate=1 90 degrees
  • Reboot for changes to take effect:
    sudo reboot
